Things to be Thankful For – Friends

Thank You - AppreciatedTHANK YOU!

I’ve talked about this before a little bit, but I have rejection issues, so to be able to say I am thankful for friends is making me extremely grateful. You are part of that, whether you live in Brazil, Canada, the U.S., Italy, Australia, France, the U.K., and many other countries. Thank you for being my friends. For reading this blog. I see my stats. And for those of you I know personally, some of you whose blogs I follow, I pronounce Thanksgiving blessings on you.

Friends help celebrate my birthday a week early

The same day that family photo was taken in August, I got home to a surprise birthday party – a week before it was my birthday. My local and regional friends showed up. My friend Patti, in particular, helped my hubby plan this little surprise. The funny thing was, I accidently found out about it a day before. I struggled with what to do. I can keep a secret, and I have some I’ve kept, but this one was hard for me, because it was for me. When we turned onto our street, and I saw my friend Melanie’s car, I nearly lost it. And when we got into the garage, I couldn’t keep it the secret from my hubby anymore. I started to cry. I have a duplicate of this picture with the person who is behind the camera. His name is Tom. His family is close to ours, especially since both he and his wife are runners, like Kirby.

And the lady sitting between Kirby and I – is precious Melissa, daughter of Melanie, who is sitting in front of her. My great friend Darla is on Kirby’s left. And Patti is behind Kirby. The girl who recruited help and put together that wonderful party. I felt so loved. At my right, is Cyndi, we’ve known each other for nearly 30 years. Not always close, but she is cherished. The three behind her are the Campbells. Kirby mentored the daughter in running. Then there is Dave, Cyndi’ husband, and Dale, Darla’ husband. And last but not least, Lorraine, a good friend to Patti, whom I’ve known for over 10 years. We connected again this summer.

So, I am thankful for friends. Very thankful for friends. They mean so much to me, because growing up, I didn’t have that many. I had some, but by high school, most had gone another direction, so I made a few new friends. After high school, in college, I made more friends, keeping in touch with them only through Facebook.

But I am continually making new friends. As I branch out in my writing, I am branching out in my life. I’m thankful for all of you. May each of you have a group of friends who love and support you. I know I do.

We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
