Eternal Moments of the Day–Part II

DSC00876A card, a note, a phone call, a visit, or a wild drive around town to satisfy three teeny boppers. All these things can bring about an eternal moment of the day. The key is to be on the lookout for them. And, be on the lookout to do them.

Sometimes, it’s the littlest things that make the difference. Maybe we won’t remember every detail about a tournament win or a concert, but we will remember something about that day that made a difference.

For example, when I was in seventh grade, and I know I’m dating myself here, the Monkees were all the rage, and they were coming to a big city near me. Somehow, I convinced my parents to let me go, I had a couple of hoops to jump through, but they worked. In fact, if it hadn’t been for a friend’s mother, we wouldn’t have gone at all. She drove us teeny boppers. She went the extra mile, by following their limo. We drove in the next lane and waved our hands off, screaming all the while. They were not happy, to say the least. They’d just come from a rehearsal and were looking for some down time before their big concert that evening.

Another “little thing” my friend’s mother did–she came to my mother’s funeral ten years ago. That was the last time I saw her. It meant a lot to me to see her there. I didn’t even know she lived back in the area.

So, what will your eternal moment for today be?

Job 4:4 says “Your words have upheld him who was stumbling; And you have strengthened the feeble knees.”

  1. I made homemade lemonade today for my international summer students. They were hot and thirsty after arriving home from school. They were delighted with their special refreshment!

Cracked-Pot

We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; let your light shine through your cracked pot. Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in and comes out.
