Unlocking Your Blessings in May—Part V

Testing comes before promotion. In school, we must study and take tests, so we may pass to the next grade. Or graduate from high school, or college. It’s the same in our spiritual walk. A few weeks ago, we talked of the valley of testing. It helps prepare divine shift to unlock your blessings that will come. Key #5: We Need to Hold Fast to Past Promises

It’s important to remember things God has spoken to us in the past. In Isaiah, oftentimes God says to “forget” what lies in the past. But there are a couple of times when God says to remember.

One such passage is Isaiah 46:9-10. “Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done. Saying, “My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure…”

This passage strengthened me during a time of testing back in 2001. I was near the end of a two-year Bible School program at the church I attended at the time. There were plans to participate in an out-of-town event at another church with the worship team. I had an interesting discussion with our worship leader the day before we left. I’d be attending class Saturday morning, then leave with the worship team just before noon.

The discussion gnawed at me throughout the rest of the day Friday, and all-night long. I’d begun to wonder if I’d ever heard from God at all. Because what I heard was two conflicting things, one from class, one from the leader. I didn’t know how to reconcile the two.

Around three or four in the morning, I cried out to God. “God do I ever hear from You at all? Have I ever?”

A quiet voice in my heart said, “Isaiah 46.” So, I went there began to read. And verse nine jumped out at me.

The next morning, I burst into tears at the end of class. The teacher followed me outside of class and asked what was wrong. I explained. She said, “This is a test. And how you respond will determine your future.” I wanted to respond correctly. And in that case, I did.

Remembering what God has spoken to you in the past will give you strength to move forward, unlock your blessings, change your life, and be ready for the divine shift in your life that’s coming. Click to Tweet #GodsTimingForYourLife #amwriting #UnlockingYourBlessingsInMay2018 #donnalhsmith
