Learn 2 Discern in October—Part III

What voice do you listen to? The three sources of everything we hear on this planet are: the voice of man, the voice of God, or the voice of the devil? #Learn2DiscernOctober @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE

The voice of God is who I believe we should pay attention to. And I mean the One true Judeo-Christian God. The creator of the universe, the creator of you.

I recently took a course and one of the instructors talked about his spiritual journey. He said, “What does God sound like? How do I hear His voice?”

That’s the question of the ages, isn’t it? Because it’s subjective in our day and age.

Last week, I mentioned we are a tri-part being. We have a body, a soul, and a spirit. The spirit is where we hear the voice of God. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says, “…God has planted eternity in the human heart…” We all have a sense of God. We see Him in nature, in the majestic mountains, amazing prairies, the infinite (so it seems sometimes) varieties of plants and animals, signs in the sky, etc.

In learning to discern between the voices we hear, the only way to discern God’s voice is to listen in your spirit for His still, small voice in our hearts.

Psalm 29 talks about the voice of the LORD in verses 3 – 9. His voice is His nature. His nature is love. He loves everyone, but He hates the fact that oftentimes, we choose to not follow Him.

His voice is one of peace. Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” I have a precious young friend who is learning to discern the voice of God in her life over the voice of the devil who torments her by twisting scripture.

God’s purpose in speaking to us is fellowship. He wants that. We’re the ones that reject Him. He loves and accepts as we are, but He does want us to become more like Him.

Do you have peace in your life? Peace of mind and heart are from God. Discern God’s voice from others by this. #Learn2DiscernOctober @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE
