Miracles, Signs, & Wonders—Part 1

What is a miracle? How would you define it? Can anyone do a miracle? Be a miracle to someone else? And, what’s the “greatest” miracle of all? How can you get a miracle if you need it? Let’s explore. #miracles #amwriting @donnalhsmith

Webster’s defines a miracle as: a strange thing, something to wonder at, something wonderful. 1) An event or action that apparently contradicts known scientific laws and is hence thought to be due to supernatural causes, especially an act of God. 2) a remarkable event or thing, marvel. 3) a wonderful example.

The Hebrew word for miracle is mowptheth (pronounced moh-fayth’). It’s only usage is in Exodus 7:9, when God is speaking to Moses and Aaron. “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by working a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take you staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that is may become a serpent.’”

Have you ever experienced a miracle? Or seen one? In today’s western world of logic and unbelief, there is still an interest in the supernatural. That’s because we’ve been wired that way by God Himself.

The problem is that most people are only interested in the negative supernatural—the occult, wizardry, superhero.

But there is a living God who performs miracles every day. You can see them if you look for them. You can be part of one for someone else, and you can experience them yourself.

I have experienced a couple of what I would call “small” miracles. I’ve experienced divine protection and the supernatural removal of pain.

Now, I’m seeing almost immediate answers to prayer. That to me, is also a miracle, because before a few months ago, I would pray for all kinds of situations—supernatural healing in particular and would hardly ever see a result. Or at best, I might see an improvement.

I talked about some things going on with me in my Transitions series. How God has been removing hindrances from my life so that I can walk in the things He wants me to do. I published a poem I’d written about what it feels like to have those nasty inner voices gone.

I look at this year as a huge turning point for me. First, I received commissioning prayer. You can watch that here about 20 or minutes in.

Then, I received my practitioner certification for healing. Finally, I’ve been delivered of those horrid inner voices.

Now, when I pray, I almost always see immediate results. That is so amazing to me! I have always felt I’m a part of a legacy of healing, because I went to Oral Roberts University. For me, it wasn’t just about getting a college degree. That was the best place for me to learn of God at that time in my life.

What about you? Have you experienced a miracle? Leave a comment and let me know. #miracles #amwriting @donnalhsmith
