Will reblog on Mondays the rest of this year (2018) on plotting from 2-3 years ago. Enjoy! Tuesdays will continue. And fresh posts on writing may surface in 2019.

Thank you for reading! Enjoy!

James Scott Bell's Plot & Structure James Scott Bell’s Plot & Structure

In his book, Plot & Structure, James Scott Bell talks about two kinds of fiction writers: OPs and NOPs. To outline or not to outline, that is the question. #amwriting #tooutlineornot Bell encourages new fiction writers to try a little of both.

Announcing: Rose’s Redemption Release

The Kindle version of Rose’s Redemption is now available from Amazon. You can also pre-order the paperback version here on this website. Once the paperback has become available, we’ll be glad to sign and ship your paperback to you.

The fun part about being an Indie author is that you never know exactly when your book will go live. It’s not like traditional publishing houses that reserve time with their “printer.”

My two novels, Meghan’s Choice and Rose’s Redemption are published through a special Amazon program called White Glove. It’s agent-assisted self-publishing. I do all the basic choosing of photos and templates, and the literary agency I’m signed with makes sure it really looks good. Sometimes that calls for a slightly different picture or font style, to ensure the book will look it’s absolute best!

I’m thankful that the agency/publisher is doing all the “dirty” work for my first three publications. I know that my book doesn’t look self-published, and that makes me very happy.

Here’s the Amazon link.  If you’d like to order it from me, click here.

A final note…when you finish reading Rose’s Redemption, we ask that you leave a review on Amazon. That helps authors. Thank you.

November Thankfulness—Part II

Sometimes it’s hard to be thankful — to find something to be grateful for. But we can find something. Even in the worst of circumstances, we can find something to be thankful for. #NovemberThankfulness #attitudeofgratitude #Thanksgiving @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE Read More

November Thankfulness—Part I

No life is perfect. No year is without some trial, error, and learning. This year, though very wonderful, I believe is only the beginning for me. My pastor calls it “convergence.” Where it all comes together. I’m very thankful, and I’m going to continue to cultivate that attitude of gratitude. When we cultivate thankfulness in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, we partner with God and allow Him to work more fully in our lives. #NovemberThankfulness #MeghansChoice #RosesRedemption #attitudeofgratitude #Thanksgiving #convergence @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE

Plotting 4 Pantsers — Part VII

They are the glue that unites the internal with the external. The internal deals with our feelings. External deals with our relationship with others. Interpersonal struggles are the “bridge” between internal and external struggles. #Plotting4Pantsers #InterpersonalCharacterStruggles @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE

Learn 2 Discern in October — Part V

We’ve been talking this month about learning to discern the different voices we hear in our lives. Sometimes, it’s like living in fog. How to tell them apart, and what their source is. Man’s voice only looks from an earthly perspective, but still has another source. God’s voice speaks of His love, mercy, kindness, and strength. We talked of “mob” violence. That’s always the devil’s voice. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy. That’s his goal. #Learn2DiscerninOctober #thedevilsvoice #Godsvoice #Halloween #Jewishsynangogueattack #Pittsburghsynagogueattack @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE

Plotting 4 Pantsers — Part VI

Three kinds of struggles should come into play for your protagonist: Internal, Interpersonal, & External. Using all three makes your story richer without plotting a single scene. This week: Internal #Plotting4Pantsers #InternalCharacterStruggles @donnalhsmith @a3writers TWEETABLE
