Your Generation – Part 1

Encouragement for Whatever Your Age

When I began recovering from bronchitis in July, I felt the Lord speak many things to me. I really couldn’t do much of anything but read. So, the Lord took advantage of all that time and showed me some things about every age group beginning at age 20. But He showed me in reverse. I’m at the end of my sixties, and He spoke to that first.

SIXTY AND OLDER

God is NOT NEAR done with you yet. Seek His will and let Him RE-FIRE. No one “retired” in the Bible except those in certain Levitical or priesthood positions — because of the physical demands of the position.

However — modern culture says “retire” and “enjoy life.” You do so — and you will lose stunning spiritual opportunities that may never come your way again.

You must remain engaged. The Middle-Agers need wisdom and guidance from you. They need to see that there is a HOLY way to live. Only YOU can show them this.

To all those younger than you — BE an influence for GOD in their lives. Ooze forth His love. Share your wisdom — you have learned MANY lessons younger people than you (especially those of middle age) need to learn.

Be blessed and fruitful.

Your time is Not Yet.

Ps. 71:18; Ps. 92:14; Ruth 4:15; Isa. 46:4

  1. What a wonderful word, Donna! I love being a grandma and influencing my grandchildren to learn to walk with God! My daughter and son-in-law came to stay with us earlier this summer. They sold their condo in Southern California and will eventually buy a house in the Sacramento area. My granddaughter is 16 months old. She’s sparkly and outgoing but quite a handful! I never thought my daughter would ever move back up to this area. She never wanted to! But the Lord sovereignty moved in their circumstances to push them in a different direction! They have been with us for 3 months now. My little granddaughter has wonderfully bonded with me and my husband in a way that never would have happened had they stayed in Southern California. I will now have the privilege of helping to care for my little granddaughter and be a godly influence in her life.

    • Thank you, Dorothy. It was God, while He had me as a “captive” audience, so to speak. I know that a lot of what you say is what God wanted to get through, but there is even more that I think He is nudging us to investigate. I could “guess” at what He is thinking, but I’m not gonna do that! I just know that some “olders” need to be prodded, because they believe life is about their personal enjoyment at this age. Tomorrow, I address Middle-agers. And Sunday, the “youngsters” who are just beginning their adult life, or still establishing it. I just took up a pen with my journal, and God started talking. Blessings!

  2. Many years ago we were attending a church where the pastor strongly encouraged us to craft a purpose statement for our lives. I committed myself to prayer over this charge. Then the Lord spoke to me in a dream, which is often how he chooses to answer my prayers. I dreamed that I was in a relay race, only I wasn’t competing. I was running alongside my children and others in my family, encouraging them in their race to not “drop the baton” & “ you can do this!”, don’t give up! Since that time about 12 years ago, I’ve looked for opportunities to encourage my husband, children and extended family to continue to walk with the Lord and seek Him for guidance in every aspect of their lives. I was privileged to spend a great deal of time with my oldest grandson from age 3-5 years old until the family moved to Florida in the summer of 2020. I continue to visit my 3 grandsons in Florida as often as I can. They are now 9, soon to be 5, & a one year old. They love it when Grammy comes to visit! I pick them up from school in the afternoon, play with them in the park or splash pad, (Florida is hot and humid), or take them out for lunch or an after school snack. These times are precious! Grammy has “all the time in the world” to listen to them tell me what’s on their hearts and then to offer wise counsel. What a wonderful thing it is to know that I’m walking in God’s purpose for my life at this time!

    • Awesome, Dorothy! God does speak to us through our dreams quite often. I love that dream. And yeah, I’ve heard that Florida in the summertime is really hot and humid. You’re sowing into their lives with eternal purpose! Blessings!
