What Gospel Are You Preaching-Part 1

When Facebook began to explode about 15 years ago, everyone was sharing their day with each other. “Oh wow! I haven’t seen you in years!” “How are you doing?” “I’m so glad to be able to keep in touch with you!” Remember those days?

Posts were often mundane, but we were sharing our lives with others. Keeping in touch was the primary goal that those four college graduates had in mind.

“I’m doing the laundry now.” “I’m going to the grocery store.”

Then, marketers saw the opportunity of a lifetime. Another “Media” outlet! Another way to commercialize and politicize. No longer is Facebook primarily a place to connect with others—it’s a place to “share” politics, conservatism or liberalism. Even other “gospels.”

So, that brings us to the title: “What Gospel are you preaching?”

It’s so subtle. You share someone else’s post. Then, only opinions get shared, and there is no real communication. How did this happen? There’s much more I could say about this, but I want to be encouraging and not discouraging. It’s all about how we respond to negative words, attitudes, and things that upset us, ignite us, and try to drag us down. All I will say is this:

We shout at each other, but no one is listening

“What is REALLY important?”

People are sometimes clueless when it comes to what’s really important. They think who the president is — is more important than who is on their school board, who their mayor is, etc. Twenty-six years ago I saw this horrible split in the spirit. It gets worse all the time. The only thing to cure it is a Spiritual revival, where politics are forgotten and Jesus is all important.

Next time: What is really important?

We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
