Blogging Award – Sisterhood of the World
It’s award “season” again, and I have three to post in the next couple of days. Here’s the first one.

To say a bit more in thanking Justina – nearly every award I have posted here is because of her. She’s nominated me and I’ll be doing her a favor and nominating her for something she doesn’t have yet – not this award, but another one! I’m happy to do that, too. She’s a great young woman, and I’m privileged to know her.
Now, here are the rules:

Here are the ‘questions’ I was given:
1. What are you passionate about?
Stories, reading, writing, miracles, signs, wonders. I’d love to be someone who could command the weather, whose prayers were always answered as “Yes and Amen” – because that would mean I was praying in accordance with God’s will. But I also love classic movies and TV. The only “current” network TV show I watch on a consistent basis is “Castle.” Occasionally, I’ll watch NCIS reruns. I love Canada’s “Heartland” on UP TV and romantic suspense movies and westerns.
2. What is your silliest memory?
Silliest? Does that mean I did something silly, or I saw something silly? The first one that came to mind was when I was a senior in high school. I had my first co-lead in the play “Our Hearts Were Young and Gay.” I played Emily, Cornelia’s best friend and travel companion on shipboard to Paris. Once they get there, the two girls experience more adventures. During one of the performances, I can remember a scene at the hotel in Paris, where I’m either answering the phone or making a call, as Emily. I pick up the phone, which is that glitzy thing called a French phone, and the part we would call the microphone part, or where you speak into – it fell off! What did I do? I put it back on, and ad libbed “They sure make cheap phones over here.”
3. What is your favorite color and why?
In my life, I’ve had, and still have, two favorite colors – blue and yellow. My current house is cream, light yellow, with one pink room, and a light green room (my hubby’s office and he chose that color). I like pink and green and peach as well. I like warm colors. But I also like cool colors at times, to bring peace. And yet, a light yellow or cream also brings that peaceful feeling into my house. I’ve had people enter my house for the first time and say “Oh, I love the peaceful feeling I get in this house.” When I built this house, I wanted it reflect light, the light of Christ.
4. When did you decide what you wanted to be when you grew up?
I’m still trying to figure that out! Because I’ve tried many occupations, from radio reporter, to secretary, marketing for engineers, balloon decorating, and my latest that I closed down last year – chocolatier. I made my own organic chocolate truffles and sold them on the Internet. But I love writing. Always have. If I could have chosen my career, it would have been a Hollywood scriptwriter. But alas, I am and was not.
5. Who is your favorite person?
Living or dead? Hee hee. Jesus Christ by far and away…but I also admire the late Oral Roberts (because I went to that university). But I also can’t forget my hubby, the best man in the world for me, Kirby N. Smith.
6. Do you think blog awards have too many questions?
Nah…I like answering questions. I used to be on the other side of this – as a reporter, I asked the questions. I wasn’t actually interviewed myself until about 20 years ago for the first time. Because I’d always been the one asking. I kind of like this better. I think it’s more fun. I also like it because if we’re honest, and we answer the questions sincerely, taking time to consider our answers, the one reading will get to know us better. That’s a good thing.
7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change and why?
So many things I would change – but right now I’ll settle for keeping my temper under control when I’m alone. I can do it in public fairly well, but I could improve. I almost reamed out an airport worker because I was afraid I’d miss a plane. Those who know my story from the Fall of 2013, know why I get ancy.
8. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
It took me nearly half my life, but I love my red hair. I hated it growing up. Now that I’m older, it’s getting a lot of white hairs mixed in, so I’m using color on it – but my color is a light golden red. Growing up it was a dark copper, but had a lot of gold in it when in the sun.
9. How long have you blogged?
THIS blog is not quite a year old yet. But I have about four-five other blogs I started in 2009. I want people to see this one though! It’s done much better than all my other blogs put together, as far as reaching people and having followers. Thank you all for reading!
10. What is your favorite hobby?
Reading, old movies, sometimes baking and cooking. But really – I’m a book snarfer. I got a Kindle Fire a little over two years ago. I’ve read more books since I got it than I had in the previous 15 years probably put together. My chocolate business was a hobby I turned into a business. I don’t want to do that again. Because then, it becomes work. It was fun, but I don’t want to turn any hobby into work again.
