What or Whom Do You Fear—Part 1
I’m on social media a lot—kinda have to be because of being a writer, I need to interact with people far away. I see posts on social media that spread fear by sharing the things that are happening, that when shared, actually cause more fear in people. #nofear #amwriting #faithnotfear @donnalhsmith TWEETABLE
The first verse that comes to me is Psalm 27:1. “The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” NLT
The Passion Translation (TPT) puts it this way. “The Lord is my revelation-light to guide me along the way; he’s the source of my salvation to defend me every day. I fear no one! I’ll never turn back and run from you, Lord; surround and protect me.”
Case in point: with all the evil that seems to run rampant in the world, people of faith whom I know seem to be running scared. They lament, “O Jesus, please come back soon!” Most of them are wonderful, God-fearing Christians I know—but they’d rather escape this world than to help usher in the Kingdom. Probably because of how they were taught. I was taught that way, too.
The Bible says in Daniel 12, that there are certain things kept secret “until the time of the end.” Most Christians I know believe we’re in a season before the return of Christ. I think we are, too. But I dispute that “any second now,” Jesus will gloriously appear and take us out of here!
The Bible also says, in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise (of returning), as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” NKJV
There are literally millions in the valley of decision, says Joel 3:14. “There the Day of the Lord will arrive.” Jesus, in His love, is giving them (and us) time for the “Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world for a witness, so that all nations will hear it, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14. NKJV
What are you doing to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth—now? What is the Kingdom of Heaven? Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost Romans 14:17. #nofear #amwriting #faithnotfear @donnalhsmith TWEETABLE
